Damn! It really works!
OK, I broke my rule not to eat out again. But I ate at Outback and had a Caesar Salad, small filet (medium RARE) and mixed vegetables. I didn't eat any of their bread and didn't even feel pouty about it!

It was an excellent way to end a perfectly awful day: awful because it was VERY stressful at work. But perfect, too, because despite that, I held firmly to my way of eating and, as a result, when I just took my BG it was 124! This is about an hour after eating, and such a low reading is amazing for me after a meal.

So Dr. Bernstein's "Diabetic Diet" seems to be working! If you are diabetic or insulin resistant, I recommend it. It's extremely low carb, so many people have a hard time staying on it. But I find that the good results I get make me willing to stick with it pretty well so far.

If you are interested in Dr. Bernstein's way of eating, check it out at http://www.diabetes-normalsugars.com/

They really have a lot of bad but tempting food at Outback (like the bloomin onion) so you did very well to find the right foods to eat.

I am surprised you are able to eat some low carb ice cream. If you aren't getting the results you want, that might be something to consider doing without for now. I am down to proteins (about 6 oz per meal), some fat and 3 cups of low-starch vegetation. No fruit, grains, cheese, dairy, no sweetners! If I don't continue to lose weight, I'm not sure what else is left to cut out. But I am very optimistic this will work.

The low carb ice cream is 12 carbs for 1/4 pint. I measure it out carefully. And I only eat it when I have had a no carb or next-to-no-carb dinner. I am allowed 12 carbs at lunch and dinner.

We'll see...if I don't lose weight, I'll cut it out, but I find that if I deny myself too long of anything special, that sabotages my diet.
